What is UGREEN HomeAgent?
HomeAgent is an agentic AI local hub.
Simply put, it is:
A smart home device placed in your house that runs AI locally.
It combines several functions that used to be separate:
- Local data storage
- AI computing
- Home security cameras
- Photos and videos
- Smart speakers
- Smart home device control
So it’s more than a NAS, and more than just a smart home hub.

Practical feature: No more hours of reviewing security footage
Imagine you come home at night and notice a new package at your door.
Previously, you might have to open the camera app,
then slowly scroll through the timeline.
HomeAgent intends to let you simply ask:
"When was the package delivered today?"
The AI analyzes local camera footage, identifies the event, and highlights the relevant clip directly.
Current demonstrated AI Camera features include:

- Package detection
- Baby cry alerts
- Activity alerts in specific zones
- AI event summaries
- Keyword search
It can even track the movement of the same person across multiple cameras.
The real time saver isn’t just recording length—
it’s that you no longer have to watch entire recordings yourself.
Find home photos by simply asking questions
The same concept applies to photos.
Suppose your home has tens of thousands of photos.
In the past you might hunt by:
The year 2024.
A specific folder.
Your daughter's birthday.
And scroll through.
HomeAgent’s direction is to let you search using natural language:
A particular birthday.
A family event.
A video of your pet.
AI then finds matching content from your local media.
This is very important,
because the biggest problem with photo management isn’t the lack of photos but too many photos making them impossible to find.
What makes Local AI different?
This is the key highlight of HomeAgent.
UGREEN emphasizes that recording, photos, and home data stay on your device.
AI also runs directly on the device.
This is Local AI.
For example, HomeAgent’s built-in AI Assistant is called Uliya.
UGREEN states that Uliya’s local large language model (LLM) is deeply integrated with Qwen3.
You can use a Local Mode,
or switch to cloud models like ChatGPT when more complex reasoning or generation is needed.
The difference is simple:
When handling sensitive family files, use the Local Model first.
If more advanced AI capability is required, switch to the Cloud Model.
This offers an option beyond sending everything to a single cloud AI.
Offline mode means your smart home isn’t rendered useless
Local AI also offers another practical benefit.
If the internet goes down, some local functions still work.
UGREEN explains that local recording and some local understanding features can still operate without internet connectivity.
This doesn’t mean all features are permanently internet-free.
Remote access and some cloud AI or online services will still require a network.
But it does mean:
The system won’t completely stop if the internet cuts out.
Transforming smart home use from "app pressing" to "just say it"
HomeAgent connects to cameras, speakers, storage, and compatible third-party smart devices.
For example:
Lights.
Curtains.
Door locks.
Temperature control.
Previously, you might open one app to adjust lights,
a second app to check cameras,
and a third to control curtains.
UGREEN wants Uliya to become a unified entry point.
Say, for example, you say:
"I'm going to bed."
The preset automation then:
Turns off lights.
Closes curtains.
Checks the door.
Switches to night mode.
What really matters is not just having another voice assistant.
But AI knowing what devices, data, and statuses your home has, and using them together.
Can the HA100 really run AI locally?
This is not just slapping the name "AI" on a product.
The entry-level HomeAgent HA100 offers 26 TOPS of local AI computing power and 16GB DDR5 memory.
It also reserves an M.2 NVMe SSD slot for AI models.
The higher-end HA100 Pro and MasterAgent offer even stronger local AI power.
But for typical households, the key question is:
Do you have data at home that actually needs local AI processing?
Such as:
Security camera footage.
Family photos.
Home documents.
Smart home automation.
If not, even powerful local AI hardware is just expensive equipment.
Local data doesn’t mean absolute security
It’s important not to overhype Local AI.
Keeping data at home reduces the need to send everything to the cloud.
But it does not mean:
Data stored locally is free from security risks.
You still need to manage:
Accounts.
Passwords.
System updates.
Remote connections.
Hard drive failures.
Family member permissions.
Third-party smart devices.
The right way to understand Local AI is not:
"Completely risk-free."
But rather:
You can keep more data and computing under your own control.
That makes a big difference.
Is it available to buy now?
Not yet.
As of September 8, 2026, HomeAgent is still in crowdfunding’s early phases.
You can put down a deposit to secure Early Bird status on Kickstarter.
The formal Kickstarter campaign will begin on October 27.
HA100 units are expected to ship at the earliest by late January 2027.
So it’s not maturely available in store or ready for everyone to buy right now.
It should be understood as:
A new product with publicly revealed features and hardware plans currently entering crowdfunding.
Also, UGREEN’s announced shipping regions include the US, Canada, parts of Europe, the UK, Australia, and Singapore.
Taiwan is not currently on the official delivery list.
Taiwan users are best to observe at this stage.
What does this mean for regular users?
HomeAgent’s significance is not just that UGREEN made another smart device.
It’s that the location of AI is changing.
Before:
Your data went to find AI.
Now it’s becoming:
AI comes to where your data lives.
This model may extend beyond smart homes into:
Small businesses.
Studios.
Clinics.
Stores.
Schools.
Factories.
Anywhere data is sensitive, and maximum cloud AI isn’t always necessary, this need may arise.
So the bigger question beyond whether HomeAgent can replace Alexa or Google Home is:
