In the past, when companies wanted to integrate Claude into actual workflows, the challenge was often not:

“Can Claude do this?”

But rather:

Where do we find the right connectors, plugins, or agents? And once found, how do we implement them?

Anthropic is now consolidating all these into a single entry point.

It is called:

Claude Marketplace.

What Is Claude Marketplace?

It is more than just a “plugin store.”

Anthropic divides the Marketplace into three main parts.

1. Connectors and Plugins

This is the part most users might expect.

Currently, Anthropic states there are:

Over 2,000 connectors and plugins.

These include:

  • Atlassian
  • Google
  • Microsoft
  • Notion
  • Salesforce

and many other productivity tools.

Simply put:

Connectors enable Claude to connect to external apps, data, or tools.

Plugins can bundle connectors, agent skills, and even other workflow components together.

This means enterprises don’t have to build integrations from scratch every time.

2. Claude-powered Agents and Products

The Marketplace doesn’t only offer “tools connected to Claude.”

It also features:

Third-party products that use Claude as their core capability.

Partners publicly listed by Anthropic include:

  • CrowdStrike
  • Cursor
  • Harvey
  • Legora
  • Lovable
  • Snowflake

The concept here differs from traditional connectors.

You’re not just connecting a data source to Claude.

You might directly purchase solutions like:

legal AI, coding agents, cybersecurity products, data platforms, or other specialized AI software.

3. Integration and Consulting Services

The third layer resembles an enterprise marketplace.

Anthropic also includes consulting partners and system integrators in the Marketplace.

Examples include:

  • Accenture
  • Boston Consulting Group
  • Deloitte

If a company isn’t lacking tools but rather doesn’t know:

“Which workflow should we start AI integration with?”

they can find deployment assistance all within the same Marketplace.

This means Claude Marketplace aims to solve not just discovery.

But the entire progression from:

finding tools → purchasing tools → integrating into the company → scaling the deployment

from start to finish.

The Important Part Is Not Just the 2,000+ Items

2,000+ is an easy attention-grabbing number.

But the real change enterprises will feel is something else:

Procurement processes start being embedded within the AI platform itself.

Anthropic states that qualified companies can apply part of their already committed Anthropic spend towards purchasing some Claude-powered software within the Marketplace.

This is significant.

Previously, companies might have:

  • bought Claude,
  • then separately procured Cursor,
  • then Snowflake,
  • and negotiated with another agent,
  • running procurement multiple times for each provider.

Anthropic aims to unify part of this into one commercial entry point.

So Claude Marketplace is not just an app store.

It’s more like:

Anthropic positioning Claude as an enterprise AI ecosystem gateway.

What Role Do MCP and Agent Skills Play?

The two foundational building blocks under Marketplace to understand are:

MCP

and

Agent Skills.

MCP addresses:

What can Claude connect to?

For example, databases, CRM, documents, project management systems, or other apps.

Agent Skills address:

Once connected, what should Claude do?

For instance:

Both can read Notion data,

but a standard connector just lets Claude access the data.

If you add a “meeting preparation” skill, Claude can then know:

  • which pages to find,
  • what content to organize,
  • and how to present the output format.

So, simply put:

MCP provides the tools for Claude.

Skills provide the methods for Claude to work.

Plugins can package both abilities together.

Developer Portal Launched on September 25

Two days after Marketplace went live, Anthropic opened a new Plugin Submission Portal.

Developers can now submit:

  • single Remote MCP connectors,
  • or plugin bundles consisting of MCP servers and skills.

The system initially performs validation and safety scans.

After review, developers decide when to publish.

After launching, developers can see:

  • install counts,
  • usage across different Claude products,
  • listing views,
  • and search terms users employed to find their plugins.

This effort makes Marketplace more than just “Claude listing its partners.”

Anthropic is working to build a genuine third-party developer ecosystem.

Should Enterprises Just Install Anything from Marketplace?

No.

This is the most common misunderstanding.

Being listed on Marketplace doesn’t mean every tool suits your company.

Before implementation, at minimum, you still need to ask:

What data can it access?

Does the connector access:

company documents?

CRM?

customer data?

code?

or email?

What actions can it perform?

“Can connect” doesn’t mean read-only.

Some tools only search.

Others may be able to:

create, modify, update, or even send data.

Permission boundaries still require your oversight.

Does it genuinely solve an existing workflow?

Don’t start collecting AI plugins just because Marketplace has 2,000+ tools.

Instead:

identify where you currently waste time,

then find a tool to fix that.

Simple Use Case for Regular Users

If you’re already using Claude, you don’t need to study all 2,000 tools first.

Focus on one thing:

“What type of data do I frequently move into Claude every day?”

For example, if you regularly:

paste Notion data into Claude,

or Jira data,

or download and upload Google Drive documents,

or keep copying CRM data,

then that repeated manual data moving is precisely where Marketplace connectors are worth exploring.

Not because the tool is new,

but because:

it can save you the manual labor you’re already doing.

What Does Claude Marketplace Really Represent?

AI platform competition is moving beyond:

“Whose model is stronger?”

to the next level.

Enterprises will now care about:

  • Can my existing tools connect?
  • Are the expert agents I need available?
  • Can the company manage tools centrally?
  • Can procurement be simplified?
  • Is there help during deployment?
  • Can workflows be reused?

So the key takeaway about Marketplace isn’t the 2,000+ options on the page.

It’s that Anthropic is transforming Claude from:

an AI assistant

into:

a gateway for enterprises to select, connect, and deploy AI tools.
